A Turbulator is a backwash intensifying device that allows for increased dynamic activity within the resin tank throughout the backwash portion of the softeners' regeneration. This device helps situations involving turbidity in the water and is usually used for well water.
Many softeners contain a bypass valve that allows you direct water away from your system. Once the bypass valve is open, turn off the two other knobs on your inlet and outlet pipes. This will let the water bypass your unit until you turn the valves back to their regular positions.
